Social Media Break in Gapyeong 가평군

One of my new year resolutions for 2019 was to clean out my social media accounts. Things that no longer represent me or make me feel connected to the world? Unfollow. Delete. Remove self from group. No reason or need to be mean or crass about it. I’m simply choosing to respect myself and what occupies my time. Except it turned out to be more work than I anticipated. On top of that, April and May were emotionally intense for me both because I took the time to learn about the various memorials and mourn for the lives lost. My heart went out to these families. In our fast paced…

    Life as a Postcard

I really dropped the ball on the 30 day postcard challenge.  Says me, three years later. What happened? Things needed to be taken care of at home. As the mother to four, I hope you can understand how busy our daily lives can be. However, I still want to make a deeper connection with each of you. In fact as we continue to travel I understand how much we need to stay connected! The goal of the original challenge was to write and send more postcards/greeting cards/ letters to friends and family. It turns out I really suck at that. I did buy a bunch of cards but they never made…

February’s Ten Minute *Winks* with an Irritated Zombie ;)

The telephone rang. I picked it up and listened to a cheerful woman tell me that I was depressed.  There was a good chance I was gaining weight.  I would need to revisit the lab to make sure.  Oh and could I cut back on the coffee? That was a week ago.  I laughed it off.  I’ve been gaining a steady 5 pounds per year.  Which I’m pretty sure I can chalk up to the sugar in my coffee and the bad pastry habit I’m struggling with.  I get that we are living in a season without sunlight to nourish our souls but it can’t be that bad, can it?  People live here and…

What was YOUR Sweetest Day Like?

Seriously. What is Valentine’s Day really about? Why does this horrible holiday make it so hard to show that you care? You can have all of the details come together perfectly… and then you wonder… did I buy enough? Will they like it? Will the roses die in my car before I get home? Should I pick chocolate and flowers up on my way home and risk the vendor being out of what I had my heart set on? Each year I tell myself, okay this year will be different… and it kind of is. Then we end up standing in an hour long line at our favorite restaurant and…

What kind of Christmas Bean are You?

Have you seen this Naughty or Nice Jelly Bean game? We picked this up for the kids because it reminded me a bit of Harry Potter’s Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans.  It’s a wonderfully horrible game.  You never know what you’re going to get.  The moment you see the beans, an internal battle of excitement and dread begins. It could be a pure mouth-watering pleasure or a disgusting terror! As I watched the kids play and then invite their friends to play with them, I realized that for some people Xmas can mean different things to different people… Finding your Christmas spirit is like playing a game of Bean Boozled Jelly Beans……

Can Traveling Make You More Resilient?

A better life is virtually impossible without a succinct and clearly defined vision. What is a vision? A vision is a preferable picture of the future. A man without a vision is a man without a future, a man without a future will always go back to his past. Whenever you lack a clearly defined picture of the future, you tend to focus on your yesterday.         -Bernard Branson Traveling is undeniably the best way for us to see what’s out there -and then what’s inside. Our little adventures helps us do more than imagine a different life or a different culture. It inspires us to go in…
