Naked in Onyang Hot Springs
Since coming to Korea, I have heard alot about Jjimjilbangs. While getting ready for this trip, I learned there is also a prevalent hot springs culture. Korea has over 400 hot springs. For this trip we picked Asan, which was 40 minutes away from Pyeongtaek by train. There are three primary recommended places in Asan where you can experience Korea’s hot springs culture; Asan Sparvis, and Onyang Hot Springs, Paradise Spa Dogo. The Visit Korea website indicates there are many more places in the area to chose from. I’m told the oldest one is at Onyang Hot Spring Hotel. A place that dates back to the Three Kingdoms Period (the reign of…

Idstein Hexenmarkt
Today the adventure takes us back to Idstein, to one of my favorite events-the Hexenmarkt! Hoping to meetup with friends I wandered around for a minute and enjoyed the area surrounding Burg Idstein. Around the corner I discovered an archery demonstration! I love the musicians of all ages, the performers, the interesting wares, the festive spirit of the whole affair! There is something for everyone and it is pretty laid back, even when the crowds show up. The icing on the cake would have to be the festival’s good sense of humor. No one here is afraid to enjoy themselves while in character, and Idstein has quite a few characters……

Walking in a Winter Wonderland in a New Year
Here I am working on organizing and uploading pictures to share when I come across our pictures from our First Hike of the year. The snow was melting too quickly in our neighborhood so we drove out to place we knew would be beautiful because of the freshly falling snow… it was picture perfect. Except we ran into a couple of hiccups because we were not really prepared to walk a terrain that was suddenly a bit more challenging due to the snow. It was interesting to see which kids thought I was joking when I suggested wearing thermals and boots. Which kids ignored me when I reminded them that while we…

Scouting New Places to Take the Family! Here are My Top 5
I love to travel the way some people can take solace in knitting a scarf. My friend calls this angry knitting. My step-mom describes this as allowing the magic to flow through you. All I know is if there is such a thing as a knitting chakra, it’s blocked. My travel chakra on the other hand is my center. Right next to that is my writing chakra. When I think of what helps me rebalance and recharge my life energy, it usually comes down to those two. Protecting the flow of what works is a serious keystone to being happy. For me that means sometimes we shouldn’t do something because we are…

33 Terribly Good Reasons You Should Visit Normandy
The general idea is that Normandy would make a great day trip. Especially if you grew up in a military community, served your country, or have someone in your family who has served. You might think of Normandy and the D-Day landings as a couple of battles on a beach. It was more than a bloody battle in the sand and because sometimes the words to describe it fail, it is best to see it for yourself. With that in mind there are several reasons your trip to Normandy should be more than a day trip. It is a place to take time to remember the lives given. It is a place where you can understand the cost…
