Tell me I am not the only one with a pile of books next to the bed.
I finally manged to unpack the last box of books. Better yet, all of them are on the shelves! The other day I talked to you about my experience with The KonMari Method and what I found works for me-curating chaos. Which is why I feel like this is the right time to officially read
- Unf*ck Your Habitat: You’re Better Than Your Mess and
- The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life.
Two books which by osmosis I have absorbed wisdom and knowledge by occasionally flipping to an inspiring passage. If books can be spirit animals, then these are the birds living in my soul tree.
Unf*ck Your Habitat: You’re Better Than Your Mess
Rachel Hoffman’s kick in the gut is more aligned to my idea of curating chaos. She is gentle and firm, taking no BS while refusing to allow shame and depression rule the day. The main idea is you can make changes in your home using the 20 minutes of cleaning followed by a 10-minute break rule. When I bought her book I joined her Team UfYH (Official) on Facebook. I am not an active member of the group but seeing other people struggle with similar things gave me permission to stop feeling guilty. Once the guilt was off, I was able to actually do things.
Good news is Rachel Hoffman has recently released her new book; Cleaning Sucks: An Unf*ck Your Habitat Guided Journal for Less Mess, Less Stress, and a Home You Don’t Hate. I am so excited I am buying one for myself and giving one away to a lucky reader!
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life
Right about the time I started swearing as a form of therapy, I came across this book by Mark Manson. I skimmed the bold subheadings and it spoke to me. It made me think about what I actually cared about versus influencing messages. Not sure if that is actually what is in the book, but if it is; osmosis. Maybe the act of owning the book has changed my life in subtle ways? I am about to find out. I didn’t realize how much time had passed until I saw his blue cover Everything Is F*cked: A Book about Hope for sale. The new book sounds just as good! You know what that means. I am buying a copy for me and a copy to share with a friend.
Yeah folks. The review part is a work in progress otherwise this could be the worst book review you have probably ever seen. If you are up for it, read them with me and hopefully in a month I will be back with a followup.
In the meantime, enter the giveaway so I know which friend to give them to! Please remember to enter only for the one book you want.
