Book Review: You v.s. the World
Last month I talked about a book giveaway and for the first time, I’m not giving any books away. I’ll need to decide what to do with the books I have collected and the path forward. Am I the only one still reading physical books? Are books no longer cool? Or are the books I am reading no longer considered recent? I did gather some of these books while working on a degree, promising myself to read and share later. A New F*cking Book Giveaway

I guess it’s time. Considering this book was published in 2017, it is surprising how relevant it still is. This book is for anyone who has ever wondered where our “selfies” and “individualism” ideas and behaviors come from, the impact of over-praising and cocooning children, and why we accept fakery as real. It does so in…

The difference between bouncing back and plowing through
I recently reread a soundbite from Inc.com about 10 things mentally tough people do. It was titled, Want to Raise Resilient Kids? A Navy SEAL Says Always Do This. You might have seen and thought it was insightful. The first two times I read it I thought it was okay. Mostly because the way it read was not about being mentally tough. It wasn’t about resiliency. Even though the author of the article shared the definition of Resilience, as “the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness,” he neglected to show that any of the 10 things mentioned would increase someone’s ability to bounce back from hard times. More importantly while this was directed…
