    A Paris Excursion

I was thrilled that my local book club decided on a trip to Paris!  In preparation for our trip, I was encouraged to watch Midnight in Paris and it did not disappoint! A week before we left we started hearing reports of Paris being under water. We have been getting crazy amounts of rain here in Europe, but as the Germans proverb says, “Es gibt keinschlechtes Wetter, es gibt nur falsche Kleidung!” There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes! There were certain people in our community who panicked.  Many of them decided to cancel their travel plans because of reports of massive strikes.  Strongly encouraging others to do the…

Black Forest Travelers, Trips, and Tips You Don’t want to Miss!

In my Hidden Gems of the Black Forest post I shared with you our early spring/ late winter adventure.  In this post I’ll share with you what else you can expect to experience in the Black Forest for the rest of the year! Plus I’ll add links to others who have enjoyed their visit! Black Forest Tips Holiday Homes Ferienwohnungs are fun places to stay and usually accommodate 2-4 comfortably.  A 5 person occupancy gets a little harder to find… and 6 is almost a rare unicorn! Discover the Hidden Gems of the Black Forest!

As a child I have fond memories of escaping with my father to the Black Forest.  I remember traveling on a train and meeting new friends over a dining cart.  I remember taking a bus to a visit a shop and their cuckoo clocks.  When Honey Bear asked me where I wanted to go… I knew where my heart was yearning for! The timing was a little off because we would be visiting a couple weeks before the tourist season began.  We didn’t let that deter us.  We packed up.  Set our sights on a working farm near the Triberg area and *poof* we were rewarded with the romantic and rustic charms of the Schwäblehof.…

    What does this symbol mean?

Symbols used & Why: The unicorn represents innocence, purity, and healing. The dragon to show the defender & the protector. The phoenix to show that no matter the trial we will rise again. Each symbol was placed in the Sam Saeg-ui Taegeuk. A Korean Yin Yang symbol that represents heaven, earth, and humanity. The Unicorn is positioned in Heaven’s section (normally blue I decided to go with Orange to represent new ideas & freedom from limitations. It is also the color of hope during difficult times by giving us permission to move on. In other words it rejuvenates & inspires adventurers to seek their goals. Plus Brian thinks it looks…

2016 New Year Fireworks in Wiesbaden

Originally we had plans to be in Mainz this year.  Honey Bear ended up having to work New Year’s Day so we decided to stay close to Wiesbaden. I figure this would be a fun event to shoot.  Up to this point my attempts to take pictures of fireworks were total flops. Traditionally, we tend to resign ourselves to safely watch the fireworks from a distance.  The Neroberg hill or any open hilltop would have served us just fine.  This year we decided to celebrate in the city – at our own peril! I am simply amazed at how many people could purchase their own fireworks and then shoot them off in between…

    21 secrets to handling depression

I mentioned a week ago that I was having a Charlie Brown week.  It’s because September through December is the worse time of year for me. The last couple weeks were especially rough.  It reminded me that I am not the only one struggling through the holidays. Which is why I have decided at this time to reveal my top 21 secrets! If nothing else, it’s a list to remind myself of what works.  I hope that it is more.  I hope it is a list worth sharing with someone who may need it. Here is what I learned to do   I learned to acknowledge that depression and anxiety is now a normal part of…
