    Capturing Prague with Kids

Prague was a beautiful place to stroll and explore with family and friends! The hardest part was figuring out how to buy our tickets for the tram into town.  Thankfully our hotel gave us a nice map and explained which type of tram tickets were available. Day One Making our way to the connection closest to us, we realized we had a different problem-finding a way to pay for our fare.  Finally I spotted something green and the size of a trash can between two sheltered bus benches.  Was that it? Yes it was.  We guesstimated which line was the right one and hoped it would take us to the…

Our Four Day London Adventure with Kids!

With my tourist hat on and our bags packed we headed to the one destination everyone was looking forward to-London!  A joy and a challenge because we represent a wide variety of interest and we must figure it out in 4 days or less. Day One An early morning flight and a bus ride later we arrived bleary eyed at our hotel.  We were in need of a late breakfast or an early lunch.  Perhaps we could get lucky and find one on our way to the first point of interest, or maybe I needed to change the first stop of the day to put us closer to a pancake…

    Wiesbaden 2017 Fasching Kinderfest Parade

Living in Germany you can’t help but notice that Fasching is on its way.  The question is where to go and what to see.  I was advised to find a place near the Rathaus. We left early to get a good spot.  We tried to stay warm with friends we ran into and entertained ourselves by looking at everyone’s costumes! The parade was announced and then we tried to survive being pelted with pocket tissues and candy! The crowd started to disperse but whoa… what’s going on here? Turns out the Fools have stormed City Hall and taken the key! Getting our share of the treasury, in chocolate gold Euros,…

Walking in a Winter Wonderland in a New Year

Here I am working on organizing and uploading pictures to share when I come across our pictures from our First Hike of the year. The snow was melting too quickly in our neighborhood so we drove out to place we knew would be beautiful because of the freshly falling snow… it was picture perfect.  Except we ran into a couple of hiccups because we were not really prepared to walk a terrain that was suddenly a bit more challenging due to the snow. It was interesting to see which kids thought I was joking when I suggested wearing thermals and boots.  Which kids ignored me when I reminded them that while we…

5 Budget Friendly Places You Should See in Nantes!

The worst part of our trip to Nantes hands down… were the museums. There are two reasons for this… The first reason is that it’s really easy to overlook such a vital part of a vacation when you are so engaged in the exhibit!  The curators work so hard to capture our attention, we barely had time to take an unnecessary amount of pictures in the first place. I suppose that’s a good thing. The second irritation is the pictures I did manage to snap of the family enjoying themselves…were victims to some sort of snafu at home that ended up eating the days pictures!  I have no idea how the file corruption happened,…

Why the Isle of Nantes is NOT for Everyone

Throughout the city of Nantes you will experience playful art intermingled with everyday culture.  On the l’île de Nantes you will find that it goes a step further… it moves! Which is why I feel the need to warn those who would be miserable from visiting this wonderful horrible place with a quick checklist: A. If you have lost your childlike sense of wonder… OR B. If watching ‘Honey I Shrunk the Kids’ left you paranoid of larger than life insects… Please avoid this place at any cost! Luckily for everyone else the Isle of Nantes is perfectly suitable. Les Machines de l’île The tourist booklet described this as the invention of…
